Obituary

Carleton W.  Plassman, 90, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Glenn Park of Defiance.

He was born in Napoleon, Ohio on February 18, 1924, the son of the late Carl and Frieda (Riefers) Plassman.

On September 26, 1948, he married Lucile I. Schlosser, who passed away July 15, 2010.

Carleton was a decorated World War II veteran, serving from 1943-1946. His accommodations included four bronze stars.

He retired from the Post Office after 27 years.

He also served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years. It was a joy he often spoke about and was a highlight of his life. Only eternity knows how many lives were touched by his complete and unwavering devotion to Christ.

Surviving are daughters, Pamela (Don) Bashor of Wauseon, Ohio, Sandra (Richard) Wellman of Naples, FL; sons, Kevin Plassman of Defiance, Mark (Karen) Plassman of Largo, FL., Nathan (Susan) Plassman of Ft.Wayne, IN; and sisters Delora Duerk and Henrietta Baden, both of Ohio. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, sisters, Laurena Bruns, Lenora Spangler, and Hermie Smith, and brothers, Norman Plassman,  Eldor  Plassman, and Donald Plassman.

Calling will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 from 4-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, 529 Jefferson Ave., Defiance, Ohio. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with a private family graveside service.
