Carl E. Wagner, 70 of Defiance died Wednesday, November 28th 2012 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.

He was born on Friday, November 13, 1942 in Defiance, Ohio to the late Edgar and Ethel (Hoover) Wagner. He attended Continental High School and graduated in 1960.

On December 8, 1962 he married Augusta "Rusti" (Elling) Wagner. Carl worked locally in Defiance as a painter, and in Connecticut from 1986 - 2003.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rusti Wagner; sons, Russell (Laura) Wagner of Severn, MD; Bradley (Christine) Wagner of Cleveland, OH; Scott (Sheryl) Wagner of Oakwood, OH; sister Katherine (Ray) Miller of Defiance, OH; brother Gary (Beth) Wagner of Columbia City, IN; brother-in-law Richard March of Defiance, OH; and 7 beloved grandchildren, Elisabeth (Andrew) Vink, Caitlin Wagner, Caleb Wagner, Stephen, Seth, & Samantha Wagner. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda March and his parents.

Carl enjoyed being with family & friends especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and riding his Harley. He was a retired construction painter from Lima Local and a member and president of Local 11 Hartford, CT, Vice President of Ayersville W&S District & member/trustee of Junction Bible Christian Church.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2 to 8pm at the Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. C. Joseph Fifer officiating.

Burial will take place at Monroe Cemetery in Continental, Ohio.
