Carl H Kruse, 87, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at The Laurels of Defiance. He was born on May 15, 1936, to Carl and Ruth (Taylor) Kruse in Paulding, Ohio. On May 4, 1963, he married Lavonna King who survives in Defiance.

Carl worked as a Millwright for General Motors and was a lifetime member of the UAW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as riding motorcycles. Carl was fond of music, playing the guitar, harmonica and banjo. Carl is survived by his loving spouse, Lavonna; his two step sons, Todd Erman of Bryan and Kirk (Kelly) Erman of Defiance. He leaves behind his grandchildren Marquessa, Keith, Nicole, Joel, and Kacie as well as five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, George, Paul, and his sister-in-law, Phyllis Sanders of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Kruse; brothers, Richard, Robert, Earl and sister Clara. Visitation will be held at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 9:00am to 11:00am with a memorial service to follow at the funeral home with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating.
