Carl H. Fry, age 82 of Defiance, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born in Shelby, Ohio on April 4, 1943 to the late Francis and Eleanor (Kimmel) Fry. Carl was a graduate of Tri-State University and received his Chemical Engineering Degree in 1966. On August 28, 1987 he married Maria L. Mendez, who survives. Carl retired as a General Supervisor from General Motors after 34 years of service. Also surviving are his four children, Nellie (Todd) Fry-Niese of Defiance, OH, Kim Parsil of Maumee, OH, Todd Fry of Sault St. Marie, MI, and Jonathon (Roberta) Fry of Ft. Wayne, IN, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his brother James (Esther) Fry of Canal Fulton, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Kelly, brothers Eugene and Donald Fry, stepson Steve Mendez, and two grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 19th at Schaffer Funeral Home South, with Deb Miller and Joe Ruiz officiating. Carl will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
