Brian G. Mansfield, 79, of Defiance, passed away on May 2, 2015 at the Defiance In Patient Hospice Center where he was a resident less than a day.
He was born on August 12, 1935 to Roger and Susie (Deffenbaugh) Mansfield in Defiance Co., OH. On March 8, 1958 he married Shirley Hall who preceded him in death on August 3, 2010.
He was a 1953 Ayersville High School graduate, worked for General Motors from 1953-1958, and Johns Manville from 1960-1966. Brian was a self employed truck driver and part owner of Mansfield Trucking Corporation leased through Freightway and was also a member of the Teamster's. Brian was a life long part-time farmer, US Army veteran serving from 1958-1960 in Korea and a member of the Arthur Bethel Christian Center.
Brian is survived by his daughter, Lynn Ann (Bob) Mahlman of Napoleon, sons, Tim (Dawn) Mansfield of Continental, Fred (Kelly) Mansfield of Defiance, and Seth (Kay) Mansfield of West Unity, 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, a brother, Gary (Carolyn) Mansfield of Defiance, and a sister, Wanda Batt of Napoleon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a granddaughter
Visitation will be held at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio on Wednesday from 1-8 pm and Thursday one hour prior to the services.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the funeral home at 11am with Pastor Chris Baker officiating.
Burial will take place in the Mansfield Cemetery where members of the Defiance VFW Post 3360 will accord military honors .
