Brenda Carol Smith, 60, of Defiance, passed away on  Monday August 19, 2013 at her residence.

She was born on April 20, 1953 to Bruce Melvin Dales and Martha Blosser in Grundy, VA. On October 4, 1995, she married Gary Smith and he survives.

Brenda recently began attending Berean Edge Baptist Church and the Eagles. She was previously employed at the Campbell Soup Company, Kirchers Flowers, and JoAnn Fabrics.  Brenda was a super crafter doing creative stained glass and scrapbooking.

Brenda is survived by her loving spouse of 17 years, Gary, son, Donovan Shane (Angie) Bowden of Defiance, siblings, Richard Cuiska of FL, Connie (David) Mendez of Ney, OH, Billy Bibler of Sherwood, Cyndee (Paul) Hall of Oakwood, step-daughter, Vickie (Wayne) Swary of Ney and her pups, Dora & Joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013, with Rev. Michael Lashaway officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

The family request memorials to the Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
