Bonnie L. Bertram, age 80 of Defiance, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on June 18, 1942 to the late John and Evelyn (Strickler) Rodak in Wheeling, West Virginia. On December 15, 1962  she married Gary Bertram, who survives. Bonnie was a very traditional "Mom" and was a true "Coalminer's Daughter". Her greatest love was her family and always gave them her top priority and support. She had previously worked at Leisure Oaks Nursing Home and Interim Healthcare extending her loving care to others. Bonnie was the heart and soul of her family and will be sadly missed by many. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gary Bertram of Defiance, her daughters, Rhonda (Don) Leininger of Archbold, OH and Michelle Bertram-Almaraz of Defiance, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her brother, Thomas "Tucker" (Faith) Rodak of Coldwater, MI, and her sister, Judith (William) Turley of Jasper, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, John Bertram. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will follow at 5:00 pm at the funeral home, with Drake Jimenez officiating. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
