Billy Don Cantrell, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at his home in Napoleon, Ohio. He was born on March 19, 1942 to the late Clifford and Imel Faye (Justice) Cantrell in Fedscreek, Kentucky. Billy proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On July 6, 1964 he married Janet Burris, who preceded him in death on May 11, 2011. Billy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Holgate, Ohio. He worked for 40 years at Campbell's Soup Company until his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed gardening and yard work. He loved to sing at nursing homes and visit with his family and friends. Billy was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Billy is survived by three daughters; Kay Harmon of Montpelier, OH, Patricia Meade, and Terry Cantrell McCutcheon, both of Napoleon, OH, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers, Clifford (Martha) Cantrell Jr. and Eddie (Linda) Cantrell, all of Somerset, KY, and his sisters, Shirley Dotson of Pawpaw, KY and Nadine (Martine) Mirales of Grand Rapids, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet Cantrell, daughter Debra M. Cantrell, grandson Nicholas Ingle, brothers Danny and James Cantrell, and sisters Connie Royal and Linda Kinder. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the funeral home, with Pastor Irl Grundy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
