Bill R Clyburn, 86, of Defiance, passed away on  Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at CHP Defiance Area In-patient Hospice Center.

He was born on August 19, 1927 to Frank and Dorothy (Bryant) Clyburn in Albion, IN.  On March 23, 1968 he married Virginia (Schackow) Clyburn.

Bill was a member of  Defiance Christian Church. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a life-member of VFW Post 3360, Retirees #211 UAW.  He retired from GM in 1982.

Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia, son, Ronald Clyburn of Sherwood,  daughter, Lynn (Greg) Wonderly of Sherwood,  grandchildren, Erick Clyburn, Ross (Casandra) Wonderly, Kyle (Megan) Wonderly, step-grandson, Terry (Tammy) Allhouse, great-grandchildren, Ryan Allhouse, Trace Allhouse, Castalyn Allhouse, Ethan Wonderly,  Ellliott Wonderly, and a great-great-grandchild, Bryce Allhouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son, Dennis W. Allshouse, Sr ,brothers, Luther & Walter  Clyburn, sisters, Jewell Mielke, Frances Gardner, Josey Long, step-son, Dennis W. Allshouse, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home,  Defiance.  Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Dotson officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

The family suggest the memorials be directed to CHP Defiance Area In-patient Hospice Center.
