Betty (Eakins) Tanner's Obituary
Betty Eakins Tanner, age 89, died at Genesis Nursing Home in Circleville, Ohio on June 4, 2014. She was born in Paulding County, Ohio on October 30, 1924. She is the daughter of Ray and Martha Ann Eakins. In 1948 she married Joseph W. Tanner who passed away on December 24, 1970. Betty is proceeded in death by her son, Thomas Lynn Tanner, seven sisters; Bea Walkinshaw, Thelma Iler, Marjorie Sickmiller, Blanche Fogle, Edra Elliott, Ermith Wellman, and Norma Spencer. She is also proceeded in death by two brothers; Charles and Carson Eakins.
Surviving is one son, Douglas Tanner, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandson.
She was an inactive member of Eastern Star and attended the Melrose United Methodist Church prior to moving to Circleville, Ohio. Betty joined the Faith Baptist Church in Commercial Point, Ohio once she relocated with her son to spend her remaining years.
Memorial services will be at the Shaffer funeral home in Defiance, Ohio with graveside services at Riverview Memory Gardens.
