Betty L. Nagel, 84, of Defiance, passed away on  December 15, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on October 2, 1934 to Dewey and Vivian (Tussing) Karnes in Defiance, Ohio.  In 1954 she married Wilbert "Red" A. Nagel, who preceded her in death January 18, 2009. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance, and was a housewife who enjoyed her time with family. Betty is survived by her sons, Dewey (Nancy) Nagel, Michael Nagel, and Wilbert "Rusty" Nagel, Jr, all. of Defiance, daughters, Susie (Bob) Marihugh of Defiance,  and Mary (Gary) Waidelich of Archbold, OH, grandchildren; Brandon (Valli) Nagel, Erin (Jason) Westhoven, Dale (Morgan Wonderly) Bauer, Christian Waidelich, and Megan Waidelich, great-grandchildren; Kaylie Westhoven, Korie Westhoven, Zane Westhoven, and Zayden Westhoven, brothers, Dewey Karnes, Jr. of Lufkin, TX, Paul  Karnes of Defiance, and Richard Karnes of Ney, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Kenneth, Robert, and Wayne Karnes, and a sister in infancy, Janice Karnes. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, 11:00 am at St. John Cemetery, Defiance County, Ohio, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating.
