Betty Lou Beardsley, 89, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 4, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born on August 13, 1928 to the late Walter and Alma (Riebesehl) Curtzwiler in Holgate, Ohio. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Holgate High School. On December 13, 1947 she married Earl Beardsley, who preceded her in death August 24, 1984.

Betty was a member of Defiance Christian Church. She worked for over ten years at Strydel Inc. in Stryker, Ohio. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and bird watching. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Betty will be remembered for her smiling face and positive attitude.

Betty will be greatly missed by her four daughters, Belinda Ott and Laura Hart of Texas, Becky (Charles) Campbell, Earla (Kevin) Gallant, two sons, Douglas (Janet) Beardsley and Walter (Linda) Beardsley all of Defiance, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Beardsley.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael Hasselbring officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
