Bernardo Reyes, Sr., age 71, of Defiance Ohio, passed away on December 17, 2022, at Promedica Toledo Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. He was born on October 9, 1951, in Lima, Ohio to the late Simon and Otilia (Ortega) Reyes. On October 6, 2001, he married Sandie (Heredia) Reyes, and she survives him. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Reyes) Malone of Columbus, Ohio, his grandchildren, Alisa, Rebecca, and Julia, his great grandchildren Namiko and Owen, his daughter, Hilda (Reyes) Hernandez of Defiance, Ohio, his grandchildren, Tyler and Jayden, and great granddaughter, Emma. His son, Bernardo (Mari) Reyes, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, his grandchildren Luzinda, Leiliana, Mireya, and Mateo, his great grandson Lorenzo, his son, Simon (Hopie) Reyes of Defiance, Ohio, his grandchildren Jayden, Jacob, and Kylee, his son, Thomas Dombroff, of Defiance, Ohio, his grandchildren, Thomas and Aaliyah, his daughter, Sarah Dombroff of Defiance, Ohio, his grandchildren Jason and Amya, his great grandson, Lorenzo, one brother, Jose (Josephina) Reyes, of McAllen, Texas, and one sister, Rose (Joe) Pena, of Aurora, Illinois. He was also preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Ava and Joseph, three brothers, Manuel, Genaro, and Alberto Camareno, four sisters, Felipa (Camareno) Rodriguez, Maria Conception Camareno, Lupe (Reyes) Hernandez, Audelia (Reyes) Rodriguez. Ben began working at General Motors in Defiance, Ohio at the age of 18 years old, as a forklift driver, and retired in April, of 2009. Ben loved Tejano Music, going to dances, going to Fiestas just about everywhere, mostly in San Antonio, Texas and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He loved traveling to places he had never seen before, especially cruising on the Carribean. He was an avid Ohio State University and Cleveland Browns fan. The family would like to thank Promedica Toledo Hospital for their compassionate and professional care. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Rosary Service at 2:00. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. Jason D'Souza officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens. Any donations can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
