Bernard F. Moser, 88, of Defiance died Monday Sept. 28, 2009, at the CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born in Adams Township, Defiance County, son of the late Peter and Catherine (Steffel) Moser.
Bernard was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. A World War Two Army veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was employed for 41 years as a die sinker at SK Handtool, retiring in 1988.
On Sept. 17, 1949 he married Dolores J. Weber who died March 5, 1992. To their union was born five daughters, Angie Absten of Lewis Center, Oh.: Karen (Russell) Hill of Hamilton, Oh.: Regina (Paul) Wargo of Milan, Oh.; Laura (John) Gibson of Phoenix, Az.; Lisa (Rodney) Gorby of Frankfort, Ky.: a son Frederick (Rhonda) Moser of Sarasota, Fl.
On June 19, 1993 he married Helen Nally Henry who survives.
Also surviving are one sister, Sister Rose Maria S.N.D., Toledo, Nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Step children, Michael (Pat) Henry, Defiance and Ketta Keller, Ft. Wayne. Four step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were brothers Virgil and Louis, sisters Silvina Erpelding, Sister Mary Carmel S.N.D., Elvira Moser and Marie who died in infancy.
He was a life member of the K of C, VFW Post # 3360, Herbert E. Anderson American Legion Post # 117, Recording secretary for 14 years at the Local IAM Union. A charter member of the Ft. Defiance Credit Union and contributed to numerous community activities.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 Friday at St. Mary's Catholic church. Visitation will be from 2-8 Thursday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:30 P:M Thursday. Burial will in Riverview Memory Gardens where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct military rites.
