Bedford Lee Dubree, 91, of Ney, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio. He was born on May 23, 1924 to Arthur and Minnie (Humes) Dubree in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. Bedford was the head of maintenance for the Village of Ney for many years. On February 6, 1946 he married Matilda Kingery and she preceded him in death in 2012. Bedford and Matilda lived in Ney, Ohio. He was a member of the Oakwood Church of Christ. Bedford had many talents including vegetable gardening and woodworking. He built many birdhouses, end tables, and wishing well lamps over the years. He was known for carving tiny baskets out of peach pits. He also loved to take a raw walnut and gently extract the walnut whole. He was a man of infinite patience. Bedford is survived by his children, Betty (George) Laney of Hicksville, Carol Ann (Rodney) Caldwell of Van Wert, Ohio, Frances Brinkman of Ney, Bedford (Carol) Dubree, Jr. of Bryan, Terry Dubree of Arizona, Mike (Nancy) Dubree of Defiance, 8 Grandchildren, 11 Great-grandchildren, 4 Great-great-grandchildren, sisters, Gladys (Bob) Ridder and Joyce (Charles) Hammer, all of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife of 66 years, Matilda Dubree, 8 Sisters, and 5 Brothers. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the funeral home, with Pastor Ronnie Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Ney Cemetery.
