Beatrice M. Trevino, 82, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Northcrest Nursing Home in Napoleon, Ohio. She was born on September 2, 1933 to Julio and Matiana (Hinojosa) Mendieta in Kenedy, Texas. Beatrice was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, and the Defiance Hospital Auxiliary. She worked for Defiance County for 15 years, retiring in 2001.  Beatrice enjoyed gardening, dancing, shopping, and especially loved children and family. Beatrice is survived by her son, Jose P. Trevino, daughter, Frances (Markwin) Jongerden , all of Defiance, brother, Tony Mendieta of Perrysburg, Ohio, sisters, Mary Varela of Weston, Ohio, Betty Hernandez of Cygnet, Ohio, Hortencia Harmon of Sarasota, Florida,  9 Grandchildren, and 2 Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julio and Matiana Mendieta, daughter, Patricia Koch, brothers, Bill Mendieta, Mike Mendieta, Joe Mendieta, and Bruno Medieta, sisters, Epefania Fonseca, Estefuna Esparza, Demi Cardenas, and a sister in infancy. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Friday, October 16, 2015, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the funeral home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
