Obituary

Barbara Jean McCartney, 82, of Defiance, passed away on Friday May 22, 2015 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on December 28, 1932 to Harmon and Dorothy (Turner) in Paulding, she was then raised by her mother and step-father Charles Fellers.  On October 6, 1949 she married Henry "Hank" McCartney and he survives. Barb was a press operator for All Star Products for 30 years, she also worked as the clerk for Moose Lodge #2094 of Defiance for 33 years, and served as the recorder for the W.O.T.M. (Women of the Moose) for two years.  She was a member of VFW Auxiliary #3360,  AM VETS Auxiliary 1991, Eagles Auxiliary, and the Elks Club.. Barbara is survived by her loving husband Henry "Hank" McCartney of Defiance, OH, son, Chuck (Sandy) McCartney of Defiance, daughter, Charlene (Fred) Hazelton of Pandora,OH,  5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, sister, Darlene (Jim) Proxmire of Paulding. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father and sisters Delores Landers, Grace Gillette, and Renie Coon. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance where funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Justin McCall officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center or a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
