Arthur C. Sauber, age 87, a proud U.S. Army Veteran, passed away at his home in Defiance on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

He is survived by his wife Carol, two daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Roush and Jennifer (Brian) Hageman, all of Wauseon, his stepdaughter Michelle Chatham of Cuyahoga Falls, stepson Mark (Christeen) Chatham of Defiance, five grandchildren, Dakkaria (Scott) Zimmerman, Delanie and Drue Roush, Jacob and Ella Hageman, three step-grandchildren; Charles Curenton, Emily (Jacob) Menninger and Mallory Chatham, four great-grandchildren; Kaiden Roush, McKayla and Karter Kimpel and Kashtin Zimmerman. He also leaves behind his sister Bernice Florence, and three brothers, Tom (Sharon) Sauber, Fred (Denise) Sauber, and Don (Karen) Sauber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Catherine, two sisters, Mary Arend and Gertrude Arbogast, and three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Kenneth Sauber, along with their spouses.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 27th at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. John Stites officiating. Arthur will be laid to rest in Evansport Cemetery.
