Antonia  Leal, 81, of Defiance, passed away on  Thursday, February 5, 2015 at her residence.

She was born on May 6, 1933 to Eugenio and Angelina (Santiago) Torres in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.  Antonia worked at General Motors for 29 1/2 years, retiring in 1998. In 1954 she married Epifanio Leal, who passed away in1969.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Defiance, VFW #3360 Auxiliary, and she was The Founder of  the Hispanic Awareness Organization.

Antonia is survived by her sons, Miguel "Mike" (Peggy) Leal of Chicago, IL, Eugenio "Gene" (Candy) Leal of Defiance, Daniel "Dan" (Patti)  Leal of Ashley, Indiana, and Ricardo "Dicky" Leal of Defiance, daughters, Leticia "Letty" (Neto) Jimenez and Sara (Juan) Trejo of Defiance, 12 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren, brothers, Eugenio Torres, Jr. and Luis Torres, both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, sisters, Luz Maria Ortiz, Elisa Jordan, Juanita Palacios, Edelmira Drewry, and Maria Bilger, all of Ft.Wayne, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Epifanio Leal, brother, Juan Torres, sisters, Ana Gonzalez and Carmen Torres, and grandson, Christopher Leal.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. A Vigil Service will be held at 2:00 pm with Jeff Mayer officiating. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.
