Amy (Horn) Wildermuth Eitniear, age 62 of Sherwood, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on August 27, 1961 to Robert and Beth (Getts) Horn in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1986 she was married to Raymond "Butch" Wildermuth until his death in 2005. On August 22, 2009 she married Douglas L. Eitniear, who preceded her in death in 2022.
Amy proudly earned her Masters Degree and was a teacher for Fairview Elementary Schools for 23 years. She was a partner with her husband "Butch" in the ownership of Quality Cars in Defiance. In her leisure time she enjoyed scrap booking, racing, and spending time with her family. Amy was passionate about animals and loved all of her pets dearly. She will be greatly missed by her family and many good friends. Amy is survived by her sons, Nick (Kate) Wildermuth of Cincinnati, OH and Joel (Heather) Wildermuth of Sherwood, OH, and stepchildren, Randy (Jen) Eitniear of Defiance, Brad (Wendy) Eitniear of Wauseon, OH, and Christi (Mark) Johnson of Defiance. She also leaves behind her sisters, Linda Horn of Ellenton, FL and Barbara May of Ft. Wayne, IN, her brother, Jim Horn of Bluffton, IN, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two brothers, Robert and Tim Horn, and sister BethAnn Bishop. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2:00 - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Schaffer Funeral Home South, with Joel Wildermuth officiating. Amy will be laid to rest at 10:00 am at Riverview Memory Gardens on Monday, May 6, 2024. Memorials are suggested to Ladies Conquering Cancer Gala, or Ft. Defiance Humane Society.
