Alvin John Kraegel, 60, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.

He was born on September 16, 1954 to Herman and Kathleen (Stevens) Kraegel in Wauseon, Ohio. Alvin worked as a janitor for St. Augustine Catholic School in Napoleon, Ohio.

Alvin loved spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed fishing, football, scrapping, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

Alvin is survived by his mother, Kathleen Irene Kraegel of Defiance, son, Jake (Marissa) Kraegel of Wauseon, OH, daughter, Danielle Kieffer of Grand Rapids, OH, son, Joshua (Becky) Martin of Defiance, brothers, Steve Kraegel, Phillip Kraegel, and James Kraegel, all of Defiance, sister, Nancy Swigart of Defiance, and 4 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Kraegel, brother, Gary Kraegel, and sisters, Carol Kraegel, and Carla Kraegel.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Services will begin at 4:00 pm, with Pastor Augie Suza officiating.
