Alvin L. Brinkman, 93, of Defiance, passed away on October 7, 2015 at the Defiance Regional Medical Center.
He was born on February 15, 1922 to Harry and Dorthea (Yetter) Brinkman in Pleasant Bend, Ohio. Alvin worked as a Laborer for SK HandTools for 42 years retiring in 1989, worked at the Zeller Corporation before entering military service and farmed. On November 22, 1947 he married Marie Demland who preceded him in death on May 30, 2001.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Pleasant Bend. He was also a member of the Defiance American Legion. Alvin joined the U.S Army Air Corps and served in WWII.
Alvin is survived by his son, Roger (Sue) Brinkman, Defiance, his sister, Annabelle Buenger, Napoleon and two grandchildren Heidi Brinkman and Cory (Jessica) Brinkman and two great grandchildren Dustyn & Kathleen Hitchcock. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Art, Norbert, Robert, Lester, Carl, Lee, & Don Brinkman, sisters, Delores Keller and Leola Silverthorn and a cousin and best friend Opal Greiner.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Saturday, October 10th at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am the Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. Joe Payne officiating.
Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens where members of the Defiance VFW Post 3360 will accord military honors.
