Alice K. Bishop, age 89, of Defiance, passed away on  January 7, 2023 at GlennPark of Defiance. She was born on July 31, 1933 to the late Anthony and Mildred (Riley) Keehn in Paulding County. She was a 1952 graduate of  Oakwood High School. On July 5, 1953 she married Lavon Bishop at the Church of the Brethren in Fort Wayne, IN. Alice was a member of the Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren in Defiance. She was a Sunday school and bible school teacher. She served on the menu committee, served as a Deacon, being a witness to her faith and carried out many personal services to family, church family and community friends and neighbors. Of her many passions she enjoyed "making music" with her harmonica, gardening, tending to her flowers, and sharing homemade noodles, both cooked and uncooked. Her selfless giving, the gift of cooking, blessed countless people. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by many family members and friends.

Alice is survived by her loving spouse of 69 years Lavon, Sons, Michael (Teresa) Bishop of Defiance, Patrick (Patty) Bishop of Defiance, James Bishop of Napoleon and David Bishop of Fort Wayne, IN, Daughter, Cheryl (Alex) Brandt of Defiance, 9 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren, many cousins, half-sisters and a half-brother and very special friends, Mable Laman, Barb Bishop, Linda Nelson and Mary Kaemming. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, beloved granddaughter, Tiana Paige Bishop and a great-grandson Logan Stiltner. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, 11:00 am at the Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren, Defiance, Ohio, with visitation an hour prior. Reverend Benjamin Polzin will be officiating with Todd Clemens assisting. Burial will take place in the Poplar Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren or Poplar Ridge Cemetery.
