Alfreda Sheppard, 83, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio. She was born on August 13, 1932 to Ewell and Pansy (Jones) Davis in Belo, West Virginia. On December 2, 1950 she married Thomas Sheppard, who preceded her in death on October 25, 2000. Freda was a member of The Church of Christ in Paulding, Ohio. Alfreda will be sadly missed by her sons, Robert (Linda) Sheppard,  Steve (Debra) Sheppard, and  Jeffrey (Kristy) Sheppard, daughter, Sandra (Jack) Miles, all of Defiance, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, bothers Phillip Spencer of  Sudith Kentucky, and Paul Spencer Jr of Frenchburg Kentucky, sisters Dorothy Wills of Middletown OH, Mary Crouch of Salt Lick Kentucky, Louise Henry of Mt. Sterling Kentucky, Kathy Gooding of Moorehead Kentucky, Thresa Reeves of Richmond Kentucky, and Susie McCoy of W. Prestonsburg Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Sheppard, and brothers Ernest Spencer, Gene Hall, Ewell Davis Jr., and Kelly Spencer, and great-grandson Wesley Sheppard. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the funeral home, with Toby Miller, officiating. Burial will follow at Sherman Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
