Alene M. Williams
Alene M. Williams, 87, of Defiance, passed away Sunday, April 26th, 2015 at Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital E/R.
She was born in Henry County, OH on August 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Curt and Ella (Meyer) Schatz.
Alene was the beloved wife of the late Otha V. Williams, who died January 7, 2000.
She had worked as a baby-sitter and Defiance Health Department as a home health aid companion for the elderly and disabled. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and taught catechism and Bible school classes. She sewed, crocheted, played the accordion, wrote genealogies and wrote poetry. She was also a member of the Defiance writers group, the Defiance Senior Center and an active community volunteer. Alene enjoyed life and had a ready smile.
She will be remembered lovingly and joyfully by her
daughters: Ellajean (Dave) Bordner of Marysville, OH, Cindy (Rex) Garbers of Delta
sons: Neil (Kim) Williams of Sherwood, Mike (Jackie) Williams of Defiance,
sister: Valera Keller of Defiance
She also will be missed by 14 grandchildren: Joseph (Brianne) Williams, Ben (Joleen) Williams, Elizabeth Williams, Nathan (Darla) Williams, Julie (Adam) Vanarsdale, Alex (Shuaunte) Vasquez, Susan (Shawn) Lopez, Julie Vasquez. Jessica Flores, John Bordner, Marji Bordner, Craig Garbers, Christina (Jeramy) Bishop, Jessica Garbers and 14 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Otha, sister Geraldine Tuttle and a brother Byron Schatz
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, Defiance, Oh. at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4th.
Friends are invited to call Sunday, May 3rd from 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance, OH. There will be a7:00 p.m. Vigil Service Sunday at Lawson-Roessner
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Suggested memorials are to St. Mary Catholic Church.
