Alberta M. Sorg Alberta M. Sorg, 87, of Defiance, passed away Wednesday, October 31st, 2012 surrounded by family. She was born in Hoagland, Indiana on October 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Weiss) Rauner. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a graduate of Central Catholic in Ft. Wayne. She had been a secretary at General Electric in Ft. Wayne until her marriage. Alberta married Aloysius "Al" Sorg Oct. 16, 1948 and he died Aug. 21,1989. Through out her life she enjoyed raising five children, traveling, needlework, playing cards (especially Bridge) and gardening. Her favorite sport teams were the Bears, the Cubs, and Notre Dame. Diagnosed with MS in 1969 she never complained while being confined to a wheelchair since 1975, with limited eyesight. She smiled though it all. She had a special place in her heart for a special granddaughter Nichole T. Wichman. She will be greatly missed by her daughters: Janet (Phil) Wichman of Vero Beach, Fl., Jo Ann Nolan of Defiance, Susan (Tom) Iskalis of Naperville, Illinois and sons: Stephen Sorg of Defiance, Joseph (Linda) Sorg of Huron, Oh. 13 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Al, sisters: Myrtle Rauner, Della Haslup, a brother Harold Rauner,and a daughter in law Penny Sorg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Visitation is Friday 3-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a 7:30 p.m. Vigil Service Friday. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Yoder, Indiana. Suggested memorials are to St. Mary's Catholic church, the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of the Donor's Choice. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.defiancefuneralhome.com.
