Obituary

Albert A. Weber, 82, of Defiance, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, surrounded by family. He was born in Defiance on October 8, 1928 to John and Stella (Boff) Weber. Al was a lifelong farmer. He was employed by Dinner Bell Food, Weible Oil, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Mary Jane Thurston Park. He was elected as Defiance County Commissioner serving two terms from 1976-1984. He also served as Noble Township Trustee for seventeen years and was a charter member of the Noble Township Fire Department. He was a life time member of St. John Catholic Church Defiance, serving many years as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a life member of the Tinora Athletic Boosters. Al served on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Co-op, was a member of the Farm Bureau, and was a 4-H advisor. Al is survived by his wife of sixty years Mary Margaret (Marnie Ducatt). Also surviving him are his twelve children. Charlie (Beth) Weber of Defiance, Tim (Jeanne) Weber of Defiance, Karen (Dan) Kruse of Napoleon, Bob (Chris) Weber of Defiance, Jeff (Barb) Weber of Defiance, Ron (Lori) Weber of Defiance, Hugh of Defiance, Steve (Kristy) Weber of San Antonio, Ann (Jerry) Overmier of Defiance, Jane (Mike) Shaffer of Bryan, Jennifer (John) Prokup of Waterville, Michael (Morgan) Weber of Napoleon; 33 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 11 step great grandchildren. Al is also survived by siblings John (Tyke) Weber and Madonna DeVeaux, both of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Stella Weber, his sister Clara Louis Froelich, two brothers in infancy, one grandson, and one great grandson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9th, at St. John's Catholic Church 510 Jackson Ave. Defiance. Visitation is 2-8 Sunday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. and 10 -11 Monday at the church. A vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Preferred memorials are to St. John's Catholic Church, Tinora Athletic Boosters, or Noble Township Fire Department. Condolences can be shared at www.defiancefuneralhome.com.
