Albert R. "Dick" Puma, 78, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at his home in Defiance. Born to Joseph and Jenny (DeCoster) Puma in Detroit, Michigan on November 16, 1940.

He attended St. Edwards Elementary in Detroit, then graduated from North Richland High School in Ohio. He then entered the UASF serving as a pilot control operator until his release in 1964. While stationed in England, he met and married his wife, Judith (Pearce). They both considered their marriage as a lifelong "adventure" for more than 55 years.

They had three children; Dominic, Caterina, and Diana, and four grandchildren; Elyssa Mann, Miranda Mann, Vincent Puma, and Giovanni Puma.

After his discharge from the USAF he worked at, and owned the Napa Store on River Drive which closed in the early 80's. He ended up working as a machinist at Specialty Engines of America until his official retirement, but continued to pursue his love affair with the Automobile! A skilled mechanic / machinist, he worked on any car...the older the better, specializing in restoring Pierce-Arrow engines. He was not a sports fan unless it involved his grandsons baseball and basketball games. He enjoyed studying military history, particularly WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

His life ethic was honesty, loyalty, a deep respect for the military and his country, and above all, love of his family. He will be sorely missed.

Friends may visit family in celebration of Dick's life from 4-8 pm on Monday, February 25th at VFW in Defiance. Schaffer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
