A.J. Karr Grimes, age 29, of Fayette, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Bryan, Ohio, on August 29, 1997 to James Grimes and Stacy Karr. A.J. was a 2016 graduate of Tinora High School and Four County Career Center. He worked as a receiving coordinator at Campbell's Soup Company in Napoleon, Ohio.
A.J. was an all-around country boy and enjoyed fishing and attending tractor and truck pulls. He also enjoyed bowling, playing golf, attending concerts, and watching sports. He was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. He was a good mechanic and enjoyed working on vehicles. He loved spending time with his daughters and sitting around the fire with his family and friends. A.J. will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.
A.J. is survived by his mother, Stacy Karr, father, James (Stephanie) Grimes, loving fiancé Emilee Campbell, and his daughters, Courtney Karr Grimes and Maggie Ann Karr Grimes. He also leaves behind his brother, Dominick Grimes, grandparents, Doug and Karen Karr, Sharon (Tim "Pappy") Franklin, and David Grimes, aunts and uncles, Jenna Karr, Sam (Jess) Karr, and Tera (Kenny) Domina, godmother, Carol McCann, and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his godfather, Mark Flory, great-grandparents, Irene Zipfel, Louise and Jim Grimes, and Stella and Ray Jones.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, September 11th at the funeral home, with Deacon Mark Homier officiating. One hour of additional visitation will be held before the service.
Memorials are suggested to a trust for his daughters, c/o Stacy Karr.
