Obituary

Ada Dora  Arps, 100, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Glen Park in Defiance.

She was born on July 17, 1915 to Henry and Anna (Schroeder) Arnos in Adams Township. She graduated from BGSU in 1935 with a teaching degree. On June 15, 1940 she married  Dorence H. Arps, who preceded her in death in 1988. Ada was the last teacher at Adams Township District School, where her grandmother was the first teacher.

Ada was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Defiance. She worked at Arps Dairy in the Processing Department during WWII, and later became the co-owner with husband Dorence Arps. She worked daily until her retirement in 1982.  In 2015 Ada was the first woman inducted into the Defiance County Agricultural Hall of Fame.

Ada will be greatly missed by her daughter, Cynthia Corbett of Saratoga Springs, New York.

She was preceded in death by parents, Anna and Henry Arnos, husband Dorence Arps, sister Jeanette Short, and brothers Melvin Arnos and Henry Arnos.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at the church at 4:00 pm on Saturday, with Pastor Robbie Ketcham officiating. Entombment will take place in the Riverside Mausoleum.
