William W. "Bill" Cowle, 93, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at The Toledo Hospital.
He was born on August 8, 1924 to Angus and Ethel (Neeley) Cowle in Defiance County. Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1947. On April 7, 1943 he married Norma (Peck) Cowle, who resides in Ayersville.
Bill was a member of Ayersville United Methodist Church, and was an active life member and former Commander of VFW #3360 in Defiance. He worked as an Inspector for Zeller Corporation for over 50 years until his retirement. He was a farmer, a woodworker, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and restoring antique tractors. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bill will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 74 years, Norma Cowle of Ayersville, son, Alan (Brenda) Cowle of Defiance, daughter, Myra (Roger) Blevins of Jamestown, TN, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Cory Blevins, and sister, Eloise LaBeau.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Ayersville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Clarence Dinnen officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hill Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by Defiance VFW Post #3360.
