William Lee "Bill" Cordray

William L. "Bill" Cordray, 69, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 28, 2018 at Mercy Hospital of Defiance.   
  
He was born on May 13, 1949 to William and Janice (Swallow) Cordray in Springfield, Ohio, and was a 1967 graduate of Springfield High School. On May 21, 2001 he married Doris M. (Maag) Cordray, who preceded him in death on February 25, 2010. 

Bill worked at General Motors in Defiance for over 42 years until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of Defiance Moose Lodge  #2094. Bill was an avid sports fan of football, baseball, basketball, and NASCAR. Bill and Doris enjoyed traveling across the country. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and attending their sporting events. 
 
Bill will be sadly missed by his sons, Rodney (Shelley) Cordray, and Michael "Bernie" Cordray, all of Defiance, stepchildren, Jeremy (Rebecca) Hurley of Colorado, Shelly Hurley of Indiana, and Brenda Hurley of Defiance. He was a proud grandpa to his 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Cordray, and brother, Gary Cordray.
  
Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm, and 5-8 pm on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 31st at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Deb Miller officiating. Burial will follow the services at Riverside Cemetery.
