Virginia M. "Ginny" Rath, 100, of Defiance,  peacefully passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio.   
  
She was born on October 26, 1917 to Tony and Anna (McDougal) Seibert in Defiance. On January 30, 1943 she married Robert Rath, who preceded her in death on August 27, 1991. Virginia was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and the Altar Rosary Society. She was very proud of her children and all their accomplishments. She loved spending time with her family, and recently was joined by all of her children in celebration of her 100th birthday.   
  
Virginia will be sadly missed by her nine devoted children; sons, Douglas (Doris) Rath of Waterville, OH, Samuel (Wendy) Rath of Portland, OR, and Gregory (Stacy) Rath of Fullerton, CA, daughters, Judith Schroeder of Seattle, WA, Joan Rath of St. Louis, MO, Patricia (Art) Somers of Annapolis, MD, Mary (Eric) Mayer of Toledo, OH, Jennifer (Jimmy) Young of Nashville, TN, and Robyn (Michael) Hawkins of New Port Beach, CA, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and brother, Jim Seibert of Huntington Beach, CA. 
  
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. 
  
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 14th at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Father Robert Kill, officiating.
