Violet J. Collier, 91, of Kalida, formerly of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at The Meadows of Kalida.
She was born on February 26, 1927 to Vern and Charlotte (Michaels) Sanders in Wayne, Michigan. In 1945 she married Curtis Carnahan, who passed away in 1976. In 1982 she married Fred Collier, who preceded her in death in 2004. Violet enjoyed dancing, music, crocheting, baking, and above all, spending time with her family.
Violet will be sadly missed by her daughter, Mary Lou (David) Pitney of Continental, stepson, Michael (Cheri) Collier of Delta, OH, stepdaughters, Linda (George) Durban of Iowa, and Cindy (Ron) Gerdeman of New Bavaria, 21 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 37 great-great-grandchildren, and sister, Donnabell Sargeant of Defiance.
In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by a son, Jack Carnahan, stepson, Don Collier, brother, Fred Sanders, and a twin brother at birth, Victor Sanders.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 16th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Brunersburg Cemetery.
