Valeria K. Browns, 91, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She had been a resident at Kingsbury Place for two months. 
  
She was born on November 20, 1926 to Benjamin and Vera (Ashton) Browns in Defiance County. Valeria was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, and was a former usher. She worked as a secretary for over 30 years at the Defiance County Courthouse in the Recorder's Office, and the County Engineer's Office, at Zeller Corp. and also at Sprigg's Shoe Store in Defiance. Valeria loved to bowl, and she was the pitcher for a semi-pro women's softball team. She always enjoyed a good game of euchre. 
  
Valeria is survived by a special friend, Marsha Leaders, and special nieces and nephews: Cheryl (Harold) Hahr and Carol Weaver of Mentor, OH, John Weaver of Butler, IN, and several other nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl W. Browns, Alvin G. Browns, Darrel F. Browns, and Valmer L. Browns, sisters, Kathryn E. Wolf, and Marjorie E. Weaver.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm, and 6-8 pm on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 2nd at Zion Lutheran Church in Defiance,  with Pastor Timothy G. Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow the service at Ayersville Cemetery.
