Tito Carrasquillo, Sr., age 92 of Defiance, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 12, 2019.
He was born in Cidra, Puerto Rico on March 1, 1927 to the late Nicasio Carrasquillo and Lucinda Berrios. Tito was married for over 67 years to Eva Perez Carrasquillo, who resides in Defiance. He worked at General Motors for over 30 years until his retirement in 1978, and moved back to Puerto Rico. He lived in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico for 30 years before returning to Defiance in 2007 to be closer to family.
Tito was the ultimate story teller who enjoyed talking with whoever would listen. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Tito will be sadly missed by his children; Jose Luis Carrasquillo of New Bedford, MA, Noemi (Ron) Bistline of Grand Rapids, MI, Tito (Amanda) Carrasquillo, Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN, step daughters, Rosalia Rangel of Elsa, TX and Edna (Bidelson) Pagan of Defiance, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that were like his own children that he deeply loved.
Also surviving are his sisters and brother, Ester Luz Pinero of TX, Drusila Nunez of Defiance, Minerva Carrasquillo, Blanca Rivera, Noemi Rosario, Milagro Castrodad, and Pablo Castrodad, Jr., all of Puerto Rico.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Monday, March 18, 2019 at First Church of God, with Pastor Rick Rufenacht officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
