Susan P. (Meister) Bockelman

Susan P. (Meister) Bockelman, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 surrounded by her family.   
  
Born on September 12, 1932 to the late Clyde and Ethel  Meister in Whitehouse, Ohio. She married William C. Bockelman on March 10, 1951. Susie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family during the holidays, at county fairs, playing bingo, gardening, reading, working on puzzles, and her many trips to Las Vegas. Growing up she enjoyed spending winters ice skating at the quarry and swimming there in the summer. William and Susie loved to get dressed up and go dancing at The Eagles on Saturday nights. Susie spent her early years raising her ornery children, and later worked for Campbell's Soup Company in Napoleon. In recent years she spent her time traveling with her kids to her favorite places.
  
She is survived by her children, David (Becky) Bockelman of Defiance, Holly (Jim) Culp of Toledo, Gary Bockelman of Defiance, Annette Glick of Defiance, and  Denise Bockelman of Defiance, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, her sister Audrey Dickes, her brother Bob (Eleanor) Meister, in-laws Lu (Frankie) Zoll, Paul (Dorothy) Bockelman, and Yvonne (Dave) Waleewski, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bockelman, son Richard, granddaughter Rachel, brothers, sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be private.
