Sharon Kay (Ludwig) Kroeckel

Sharon Kay Agnes (Ludwig) Kroeckel, 74, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. 

Sharon was born June 1, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to her parents Leonard Ludwig and Lenora (Smith) Ludwig Allgire. She was a 1961 graduate of Defiance High School. On February 16, 1962 she married Roger F. Kroeckel, who resides in Defiance. They were happily married for 56 years. Throughout her life, she has lived in Germany, Italy, Texas, Kansas, Michigan, and Ohio, and has had countless adventures around the world. She retired from Defiance City Schools. She loved playing games of all kinds with her family; board games, cards, bingo, mah-jong, and computer games. She touched many lives and will be truly missed.  

Sharon lives on in her loving husband, Roger Kroeckel and their treasured pet Suray, children; Terri Apt (Michael Kramer) of Port Richey, FL, Gail  (Paul) Zizelman of Paulding, Steven (Charissa) Kroeckel of Defiance, and Jodi (Eric) Lause of Defiance, grandchildren; Christopher (Michelle) Johnson, Sean (Jessica) McIntosh, Nathan Apt, Joshua Kroeckel (Heather Maag), Kathy (Jose) Mancera, Andrea Zizelman, Elissa (Cody) Baerlin, Josie Kroeckel (Dillon Harruff), Dakota Lause (PJ Harlow), Riley Lause, and Carson Lause, great-grandchildren; Haley Whatley, Shane Whatley, Chelsea Funk, Trenton Funk, Clayton McIntosh, Gage McIntosh, Jaxson Funk, Ava Mancera, Ivy Mancera, Payton Kroeckel, Colton Kroeckel, Jordyn Maag, Haylee Maag, Lane Hiltner, Kaden Hire, Kamden Hire, Kysen Hire, and Chloe Baerlin, siblings; Patricia (Robert) Vetter of Defiance, Carol (Jack) DeLano of Defiance, and Kenny (Kathy) Ludwig of Defiance, sisters-in-law, Jean Ludwig of Elkhart, IN, and Diane Cooper of Oakwood, brother-in-law, David (Sandy) Kroeckel of Defiance, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was joyfully received by lifelong friends, Marilyn and Judi, all of whom are dearly missed by the surviving members of their special group, Diane, Pat, and Bernie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Jerry Ludwig, brother-in law, Danny Kroeckel,  and sister-in-law, Sandy Cranford.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Fr. John Stites officiating.
