Sharon S. Gearing age 64, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2017 at her home.  She was born on May 9, 1953 in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of Norman and Doris Parker (Cowles) Parker, who preceded her death.

 
Sharon was a 1971 graduate of Defiance High School and on June 23, 1973, she married Paul E. Gearing.  Sharon enjoyed working at First Federal Bank.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Defiance.  Sharon was an active member of the Fort Defiance Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved genealogy and researching family ancestry in addition to spending time with her daughters and her grandchildren.

 
Sharon will be greatly missed and is survived by her husband Paul, two daughters, Lynne Rodriguez (Sergio) of Sunbury, Ohio and Janelle Seibt (Gabriel) of Clarkston, Michigan and her brother, Norman "Duff"  Parker of Defiance, Ohio.  She has four grandchildren-Nicolas & Anthony Rodriguez and Rachel & Gabriel Seibt.  
 
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio followed by a reception at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church proceeding the burial.  

Memorial contributions may be given to the Fort Defiance Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution or Heartland Hospice.
