Ruperta "Ruby" D. (Solis) Roehrig
May 14, 1934 ~ October 4, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years OldRuperta "Ruby" Delores Roehrig of Defiance passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance.
She was born on May 14, 1934 in Cotulla, Texas to Antonio and Elena (Mendez) Solis. On November 26, 1955 she married Donald Roehrig, who resides in Defiance. Ruby will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 62 years.
Ruby was a loyal member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance. She was a nurse's aide at Defiance Hospital, a lunch lady for Defiance City Schools, and worked with her sister at Bea's Carryout for many years. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Defiance Eagles #372. Ruby was a one of a kind person. She loved cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, going to the great-grandsons baseball games, and spending time with her grand and great-grand children. She was also the neighborhood watch -if you did it, she saw it. Ruby had a heart of gold and went out of her way to help anyone. She will be very sadly missed by all that knew how wonderful she was.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Donald Roehrig of Defiance, son, Donald M. Roehrig (Terrie Stevens) of Kalamazoo, MI, daughter, Cindy (Russ) Seip of Defiance, Amy (Kirk) Kellermyer of Defiance, and Tricia Ridgway (Dan Baker) of Defiance, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and sister, Beatrice Gonzales of Defiance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Joyce Marie Roehrig, brothers, Mike, Conrad, and Rosendo Solis, and sister, Soila Lopez.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church. A Vigil Service is scheduled for 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father John Stites officiating. Burial will follow the services at Riverside Cemetery.
