Robert  E. "Bob" Yaros, 87, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  
 
He was born on March 4, 1930 to Edward and Sophie (Serwatka) Yaros in Washington, PA. Bob proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On April 29, 1951 he married Hazel (Mounts) Yaros, who preceded him in death on December 4, 2012.
Bob was a member of  St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. He was also a  member of the American Legion #541 in Continental, OH, and a life member of VFW #3360. Bob worked at Montgomery Ward in Washington, PA. He opened the first Uniroyal Tire store in Des Moines, IA, and then opened and managed stores in  Toledo, Defiance, and Adrian, MI. He was honored as "Manager of the Year" at the Adrian store. He enjoyed photography, his time with his dog, Molly, and spending time with friends at the VFW playing tickets. Bob will be missed by his family and many good friends.
 
Robert is survived by his sons, Robert F. (Cheryle Anderson) Yaros of Dundee, MI, and Steven A. (Janet) Yaros of Defiance, four grandchildren; Michelle Gray of Charlotte, NC, Stacey Yaros of Toledo, Anthony (Tevie) Yaros of Butler, IN, and Robert L. Yaros of Toledo, and ten great-grandchildren.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Yaros, and daughter, Barbara Ann Yaros.
 
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 23rd at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, with graveside military rites accorded by VFW #3360.
