Philip L. "Chunko" Hall, 59, of Defiance, passed away on  Friday, October 27, 2017 at his residence in Defiance.  
  
He was born on March 5, 1958 to Mahlon and Jean (Haas) Hall in Defiance. Phil was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School, and was a 1976 graduate of Defiance High School. Phil worked at Chief Supermarket for over 40 years, and recently at Bud's Restaurant. Phil had old school ethics with a contagious laugh, and a bigger than life personality. His heart was big enough to fill the Big House. He was a huge fan of Michigan football, NASCAR, Red Wings hockey, and Ice House beer. Chunko had many good friends and will be sadly missed not only by his family, but to all who knew him.
  
Phil is survived by his brother, Larry Hall, sisters, Linda (Robert) Wagner, Mary Ann Hall, Diane Hall, Connie (the late Gary) Brands, Lori (and the late Bill) Linebrink, and  Becky (Dave) Hoschak, all of Defiance, along with many nieces and nephews.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Mahlon Hall, and a brother, Douglas Hall.
  
Friends and family may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
