Orville C. Kiessling, 93, of Defiance, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  
 
He was born on August 21, 1924 to Conrad and Corabelle (Lampman) Kiessling in Defiance. Orville proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. On June 15, 1948 he married Irene (Black) Kiessling, who preceded him in death on November 29, 2003.
Orville was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Defiance, UAW Retiree Club, and was a life member of VFW #3360, AMVETS #1991, Eagles #372, Moose Lodge #2094. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and especially winning at cards. Most of all, spending time with his family was a priority.
 
Orville will be sadly missed by his daughters, Sally Zeedyk of Acworth, GA, and Nancy (Tony) Magaraci of Ft. Oglethorp, GA, daughter-in-law, Mary Kiessling of Defiance, 9 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Kiessling, sons, John and Thomas Kiessling, granddaughter, Angie Lee, four brothers, Otto,  Fred, Louis, and Alpha Kiessling, four sisters, Rose Reinhardt, Helen Reed, Lena Nicely, and Virginia Kiessling, and son-in-law, Loren Zeedyk.
 
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 6th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Wilson, and Pastor Nicholas Kinsey officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens, with graveside military rites accorded by VFW #3360.
 
Memorials are suggested to First Assembly of God Church, or CHP Defiance Area Hospice Center.
