Nettie A. (Brandt) Johnston

Nettie A. Johnston, 94, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at The Laurels of Defiance.   
  
She was born on June 29, 1923 to Arthur and Sophia (Cordes) Brandt in Defiance. Nettie was a 1941 graduate of Defiance High School. On April 8, 1944  she married Harlo Johnston, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1981. 
  
Nettie was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the ladies aide, Altar Guild, Defiance Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary. She worked for several years in the cafeteria at Ayersville Local School. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
  
Nettie will be greatly missed by her sons, Harold Johnston of Ayersville, and Donald Johnston of Perrysburg, Ohio, five grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. 
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlo Johnston, and sister, Luetta Harrow.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
