Matthew J. DeVelbiss

Matthew J. DeVelbiss, 52, of Wauseon, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, Ohio.  
  
He was born on March 12, 1966 to L. Edward and Eileen (Wieging) DeVelbiss in Defiance, OH.
  
Matthew was a member of member of Holy Trinity Assumption Catholic Church, and worked at Quadco Rehabillitation Center for 33 years.  He was a member of the art and garden clubs through Quadco Rehab Center where he enjoyed being outside on his swing and watching the birds.  Matthew also enjoyed his many  "coffee breaks" with his bright yellow coffee cup, and  was very much a people person who had a tight squeeze hug for everyone he met..
  
Matthew will be sadly missed by his sisters, Teresa (Alan) Schlosser of Defiance, OH, Laura (Shane) Phillips of Defiance, OH, Julie (Fred) Squires of Defiance, OH, and Connie (Floyd) Hite of Wauseon, OH, brothers, Darrell (Kelly) DeVelbiss of Defiance, OH,  and Andrew DeVelbiss of Defiance, OH, 23 Nieces and Nephews, 25 Great Nieces and Nephews, and many Aunts and Uncles.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents.
  
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, with a Vigil Service at 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.
     
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018, at 11:00 am in St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Fr. Eric Meuller, officiating.
  
Burial will take place in the St. Josephs Cemetery, Fort Jennings, Ohio.
  
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations be made to the Non-profit Quadco Rehabilitation Center in Matthew's memory.
