Mary Lee (Fintel) Porter

Mary Lee Porter, 74, of Defiance, passed away on  June 16, 2019 at the Brookview Heathcare Center in Defiance, Ohio.  
  
She was born on December 15, 1944 to August and Esther (Oelfke) Fintel in Napoleon, Ohio.  On  November 25, 1967, she married Ron Porter who survives in Defiance.
  
She was a member of the St. Stephen Lutheran Church, where she had been active as a Sunday School teacher and also played the piano.  She was a former secretary and manager of the Farmer's Co-Op grain Elevator in Defiance for many years;and was also an Avon sales representative for several years.  Mary enjoyed cooking Holiday meals and providing a good home for her family; she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
  
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Ron; daughter, Julie Brandt of Defiance and son, Chad (Evelyn) Porter of Pearland, Texas.  She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Jason Brandt of Defiance and Julia Porter of Pearland, Texas; as well as her brother, Dennis (Roberta) Fintel of Bowling Green, Ohio and her sister, Dianne (Loran) Schulte of Concord, North Carolina. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marvin Fintel.
  
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc. in Defiance, Ohio.  
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019, 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. William Stottlemyer and Rev. George Alley, officiating.  
Burial will follow in the Hill Cemetery.
