Mary K. (Hess) Jennings

Mary K. Jennings, 88, of Defiance, peacefully passed away at her home in Defiance on Tuesday evening, July 31, 2018.  
  
She was born on January 5, 1930 to the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Bernard) Hess in Henry County. On February 14, 1953 she married Charles J. Jennings, who preceded her in death on January 31, 2017. 
  
Mary was an active member of  St. Mary Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and she volunteered at the Food Pantry. She was a life member of VFW Auxiliary, and Zonta Club. Mary owned and operated Mary's Beads and Things in Defiance. In her leisure time she volunteered with scouting, and enjoyed spending time with her family. 
  
Mary will sadly be missed by her sons, Chris (Mary Jo) Jennings, Thomas Jennings, Jim Jennings, and Ray Jennings, daughters, Margaret (Marc) Trosien and Beth (Darrel) Holifield, grandchildren; Eric (Roberta) Jennings, Stephanie Jennings, Kristen Jennings, Shaley Jennings, Justin Jennings, Jerrad Jennings,  Jacob Sholl, Matthew Trosien, Marc (Beka) Trosien, Jason Holifield, Landen Holifield, Alli (Randy) Bennett, and Michael Snyder, great-grandchildren; Patrick, Harrison, Julian, Weston, Emmalee, and Annalynn, and sister Janet Taylor.
  
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Ernestine Schnitky and Carol Martin.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-7 pm on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Rosary Service at 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
