Manuelita "Mamie" Perez, 82, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in Defiance, surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 8, 1935 in Mathis, Texas. On January 23, 1956 she married Juan V. Perez, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2000. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and Defiance DAV. Mamie enjoyed cooking and loved baking. Her greatest joy was to make all those who visited her a plate filled with food, or just to have a cup of coffee with her baked goodies. Her home was open to all with love and care.

Mamie will be sadly missed by her daughters, Rebecca Rodriguez of Defiance, Virginia (Rick) Rodriguez of Abilene, TX and Debra Roehrig of Findlay, OH, sons, Daniel Perez and Juan A. (Becky) Perez, all of Defiance, 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, brothers, Joe (Rita) Garza, Henry (Josie) Cantu, Sr., and Albert (Anita) Cantu, sisters, Frances, Lupe, Juanita and Maggie Cantu, many nieces and nephews, and beloved cousin, Sam Guillen.

In addition to her birth mother, Petra Cantu, and her parents who raised her, Charles and Louisa Guillen, she was preceded in death by her husband, Juan V. Perez, son Ramon Perez, and sisters, Carmen Salazar, Mamie Little Sanchez, Dominga, Ramona, and Linda, brothers, Refugio, Sr., Jesse, and Louie Cantu, and Elvina "Vina" Sanchez, her sister-in-law whom she adored as a sister.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Rosary Service at 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 1st at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to The Alzheimer's Association, and St. Mary Catholic Church. Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
