Lynn Nelson Davis

Lynn Nelson Davis, 74, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday December 1, 2018 at Mercy Defiance Hospital. 
  
Lynn was born in Defiance on May 14, 1944 to Carl and Edna (Dils) Davis.  He graduated from Ayersville High School in 1962 and received a degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1967. On December 17, 1966 he married Kathy Siniard of Brevard, NC.  Lynn proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969.  He worked for International Harvester in Hinsdale, IL, and for Johns Manville as a plant engineer for 18 years, and later was a third generation owner and operator of Harry L. Davis Sons Drainage Contracting Company.  Lynn was a very active member of Ayersville United Methodist Church.  He was a member of Kiwanis, he served 16 years on the Ayersville School Board, and served various leadership roles in the O.L.I.C.A. (Ohio Land Improvement Contractor's Association). Lynn was also involved in many other community organizations.
  
Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Kathy Davis of Defiance, son, C. Clay (Rebecca) Davis of Columbia City, IN, daughter, Casey (James) Davis of Dayton, two grandchildren, Cora Kay Davis and Jaxson Lawrence Davis, brother-in-law, John Hoshock, and nephew, Daniel Lynn Hoshock. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Judith Kay Hoshock.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Ayersville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Clarence Dinnen officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Ayersville Cemetery.
