Larry C. Bostelman, 68, of Defiance, passed away on Monday evening, March 11, 2019 at his residence in Defiance.
He was born on February 13, 1951 to Carl and Esther (Gerken) Bostelman in Wauseon, Ohio. Larry worked as a grounds keeper for Sauder's in Archbold for several years until his retirement. Larry continued his passion with mowing and landscaping, working alongside his son at Straight Line Lawn Care LLC. He was a member of the Ohio Deaf Hall of Fame, where he was named basketball All-American, and took home a gold medal from the World Games for the Deaf in Bucharest, Romania. Larry had a scoring average of 28.4 and a rebounding average of 17.4. He was referred to as the nation's "outstanding retriever". In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting as a member of the Evansport Fox Club, mowing, and he had a passion for nature.
Larry will be sadly missed by his two sons, Brent Bostelman and Daniel (Brooke) Bostelman, all of Defiance, three grandchildren, Kipton (7), Kolton (6), and Indi (6 months), sisters, Carol (Don) Behrman, Joyce (Jeff) Colegrove, Sandy Bostelman, and Shelli (Rod) Luzar, brothers, Jerry (Janice) Bostelman, and Terry (Cheryl) Bostelman, and brothers-in-law, Jack Lugbill and Lee Frazee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Cindy Bostelman, Linda Lugbill, and Mary Frazee.
A service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Archbold Evangelical Church, Archbold, Ohio.
